Lily Comes Home - The baby inspects her new dwelling

We brought Lily home Sunday morning, less than 2 short days after the Exodus of the Lily from the womb. We call her "Squeaker" because she makes noises that bear that name when she eats. She sleeps and you practically cannot wake her up. Earthquakes, sirens, nothing, nada. Pretty cool so far....

People say that babies smile when they are trying to "toot." I'd say she is no exception

Rosa & Johnny's engagement portrait in Capitola Village

I had never met Rosa & Johnny. They showed up to meet me at the wharf and I was surprised! They are VERY good looking...like rediculously good looking like Zoolander, and dressed to the nines. We had a great time, and even did this after sleeping only part of the night on a hospital chair. Johnny said I could go to the track and drive his Viper...I am putting it here in writing so that I can hold him to it. -JK

Lily Is Born! The baby girl has arrived to Earth!

Welcome little baby Lily! Lilian Grace was born at 11:45PM on Friday night October 26th at Dominican Hospital. Michonne had an incredible natural birth, and pushed for a total of 6 minutes...the nurses were amazed. We also had Certified Nurse Midwife Veronica Wagner, who really did a wonderful job and we would recommend her any day of the week. Lily came out alert, looking around and pretty quiet, that is until they put her on the scale to find out that she weighed 6lbs. and 9ozs. She cried for a second until I touched her and said, "..it's ok baby," then she stopped and listened. I didn't cry...<sniff> She measured 20.5 inches and has dark blonde hair and blue eyes like daddy. Some would argue, she looks like me. I guess I can't argue back...let's just hope she grows to look like her mother. Welcome baby Lily! We love you!

Cassie & Justin's Engagement @ home in San Francisco - Wedding Photographer

It is an honor to have been chosen to be Cassie & Justin's wedding photographer because she is a wedding coordinator herself at the seascape resort in Aptos. She gets to see a lot of wedding photographers in action, work with them, as well as see their work. So again, it is an honor to be chosen by you, Cassie, thank you. Now I just have to make sure that I don't screw this up...
We met them at their home in San Francisco to photograph them cooking dinner together (they made amazing steaks for us) and after a few glasses of wine, we photographed them in their PJs on the couch watching TV. Now, when I said, "Let's photograph you two doing your favorite things together," at least they were honest. I LOVE it. -JK

April & Jack's wedding at Chaminade Santa Cruz Wedding Photographer

April & Jack had an awesome local wedding at Chaminade Santa Cruz and we were glad to be their photographers (especially since we got to take home some maple syrup favors from Canada. Jack is from there and carries hundreds of them on his person all the time...:) Anyway, beautiful day, beautiful people. I thing my favorite word for the blog is beautiful...I probably need to change it up. Maybe I could use something like awesome or radical. <insert canned laughter> -JK
