FAQ: Brides Questions & Answers for Wedding Photographers FAQs

Q: What is your style of photography?
A: Mixed, John focuses on fashion portraits, romantic and beauty, while Michonne focuses on candid photojournalism and details. Two photographers give you the best of both worlds while being unobtrusive and easy-going. Award winning stuff.
Q: Why should I pay a premium for you when I can get another photographer for half the price or less?
A: If you are asking this question, then you probably haven't compared the work and finished product well enough. We not only offer the finest products in the world, we also offer everything available in wedding photography today. In addition to this, you are hiring artists that do not sell themselves cheap, and they have a full service studio working with them to give you amazing service and the utmost experience with your wedding images. This is all that we do, and we want it to be perfect for you. Our clients realize how important these images are, and you will never get to do it over. I can't tell you how many times I have heard someone say, "I really wish I could have had you for my photographer." Others who have hired us say that we exceeded their expectations.
Q: How many images do you take at the wedding?
A: Roughly 100 per hour between the both of us. You see about 95% of those, we have a very slight editing process...we don't overshoot to try to get a good shot, we get it the first time. Most of our clients view between 600-900 gorgeous photographs and most couples end up with around 100 of their favorites in their finished albums.
Q: How long does it take to get my album?
A: That depends on you, your image selections and your approval of our layouts. It can be in your hot little hands as soon as 6 weeks.
Q: What kind of equipment do you use?
A: Disposable cameras, mostly. Just kidding. Canon professional gear and Mac Pro computers, for a start. We probably have over $100k invested in camera goodies.
Q: Do you offer video?
A: Yes, we do. Eric Callero is a wonderful filmmaker and a friend of mine. He shoots along with Dane Sorenson and then edits an amazingly different wedding movie. I have personal creative control over how the design looks and the feel of the edit. My images are also used throughout the design and the movie as well. Ask us about it, it's HD and looks just like a Hollywood HD DVD or Blu-ray disc. Truly sweet.
Q: Do you travel for weddings?
A: Yes. We require a minimum package and all travel expenses covered outside the Monterey / San Francisco Bay Areas..
Q: Do you use film or digital?
A: I'll answer your question with another question, "Which would you like us to use?" We shoot primarily digital, but film is available upon request for the nostalgically inclined.
Q: Is it you that shows up at the wedding or is it somebody else?
A: Of course it is us! We actually want to be there! Maybe I could send my neighbor though, he's got a digital rebel...
Q: What do your packages range in price?
A: At the moment, they start at $6995, but they go up at least once a year, so don't hold me to it. We'll explain the packages to you when you come in, you really need to see everything in person anyway. If you compare photographers over the internet, I would liken it to test-driving a car over the internet. You can only make a decision based on the numbers, and not what the car actually feels, smells, looks and drives like. Good luck, it's hard to compare apples to apples with photographers.
Q: What is required to hold my date?
A: Good question. We require an agreement form be filled out and a retainer fee of 50% of your package selection. The final balance is due 30 days before the wedding. Standard operating procedure. Inquire for special arrangements or payments.
Q: Can I get the "negatives" on a disc and make my own prints?
A: Sure you can. They are available for you if you so choose to have them. However, I don't recommend the average person printing their own pictures for 2 reasons. One is, if you print them or have the drugstore print them, they will not look nearly as good as if I printed them, guaranteed. The second is that when people see your images in your home, office and album, that they are wowed by them and ask "who did your photographs?" because they love them, and not because they think that they stink because the drugstore printed them to dark or contrasty or couldn't remove your pimples. icon_wink
Q: What other services do you offer?
A: "What don't we offer?" would be an easier question. We have engagement sessions, bridal portrait sessions, rehearsal dinner coverage, custom framing, wedding websites, High Definition DVD slideshows and HD video, Magazine albums, matted albums, coffee table books, silk, wood, metal, leather & glass albums, projection slideshows, parent albums and holiday/event/thank you cards. There's probably more I am forgetting as well. The point is, we want to exceed your expectations.
